James Bond is handing over his iconic code name to a new spy in town. Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch will be taking over the reigns as the new 007 in the upcoming James Bond film. 

The 31-year-old Black British actor will play a new agent taking over Bond’s code name in the untitled film. The film will reportedly find Bond, played by Daniel Craig, briefly leaving retirement for a final mission against a villain portrayed by Oscar winner Rami Malek, according to The Mail on Sunday. 

The untitled film, the 25th movie in the spy franchise, is currently shooting in the UK and Italy. It is set for a 2020 release, though it has been plagued by a few bumps in production, including Craig’s ankle surgery.
